Twenty years ago, when I started Stone Globe Lights, I never imagined that something I design and hand-finish here in Suffolk would one day appear on international television.

A few months ago, a client ordered a single Stone Globe Light. Shortly afterwards they came back and ordered another seven in various sizes. Naturally, I asked what they were for. The reply was simply, “I can’t tell you just yet.”

The answer arrived recently, when they sent me these wonderful photographs.

My Stone Globe Lights had been chosen for ITV’s FIFA World Cup studio in Brooklyn, with the Manhattan skyline behind them. They appear throughout ITV’s coverage of the tournament.

For a small independent business based near Newmarket, this is one of those moments you never see coming. Millions of people are watching the football this summer, and sitting quietly in the corner of the studio is a set of lights that started life on my workbench.

Every Stone Globe Light is designed to look like natural stone by day, then give a warm, welcoming glow after dark. Seeing them do exactly that on a World Cup broadcast is something I will always remember.

The same Globe Lights in your own garden

The lights ITV chose are the same ones I make for gardens across the UK. They come in six realistic stone finishes, three sizes, and a choice of mains, Plug & Play or solar power.

They suit entrances, driveways, pathways and garden borders, sitting naturally among planting by day before lighting up at night.

If you are planning a new garden or updating an existing one, I would be delighted to help you choose the right size, finish and power option for your project.
